Fixing Up My Ford With A Bull Bar 12
Dec

I was looking to adding some accessories to my Ford F-150 but just could not decide where I wanted to start. Should I go with the mud flaps, the bull bar or the bed liner. All of which are items that will aid me and all of them are items that I will be putting on my truck. However, I just could not decide what order to put them on in.

I finally decided to go with the bed liner first as that seemed to be the most logical choice as it would be the item to add the most benefit to my truck. Next came the second decision spray in or slide in. Again I was at a cross roads. If I went with the spray on it would essentially be permanent and was not going to come out whereas if I went with the slide in I would be able to remove it if necessary. Therefore, I went with the slide in liner to keep life simple and to allow me a little more freedom if I change my mind in the future. Now I just need to figure out when I am going to put the rest of those items on and any others that I may choose to go with.

Antique Truck Show 23
Oct

I went to an antique truck show a few weeks ago that was really neat. It is amazing how good the condition is of some of these old trucks. A lot of them actually had pictures of the transformation from rusty old heaps all the way to the shiny finished product that they are today.  Many of them were considered to be completely original down to every single nut and bolt. I can’t imagine how much money some of the owners have wrapped up in these things. An on top of that, imagine how much all of those old trucks must have been worth.

Of course it is also a Mecca for vendors. Of course they had all of the usual stuff like ice cream, sodas, and anything they could stick in a deep fryer. They even had something call Indian fry bread which I didn’t try. The one vender who did see me coming was selling truck accessories though. I ended up shelling out the cash for one of those really nice Jobox truck tool boxes which was priced lower than I had ever seen one. So all in all it was a neat show with some vintage trucks, plus I ended up getting a good deal on a tool box that I had been wanting.

The Importance of Shopping Around for Auto Parts 14
Oct

When you are buying parts to customize your truck you should shop around.  Shopping around offers you many benefits and is a good idea no matter what part you are buying.  Shopping around lets you check out different prices, styles and types of parts so you can choose what will work best for your truck.  You may even find deals that you would otherwise have overlooked just by looking around.

You should shop around for everything from a tonneau cover to bed mats to bigger parts like a diesel exhaust.  You want to see what is out there and what options you have.  Make sure, though, that you pay attention and make sure the part is made for your type of truck.  You want the right part, but you want a good price, too and that is what you get when you shop around.

You want to shop around for every part you buy so you can get the best deal.  You can save a lot of money and a lot of hassle just by shopping around for the parts for your truck customization.  It is well worth the time spent doing it because of all the benefits you get from the experience.

The Perfect Honeymoon 19
Aug
Since I only planned to get married once, I wanted to make sure that my honeymoon was perfect. I know that it may not have been the most realistic of goals, but I knew that I should be able to come close.
So, my future husband and I sat down on a number of occasions to decide as to what we wanted to do on our honeymoon. Our views of a perfect honeymoon were definitely different from one another, but we thought we could compromise.
It took awhile for us to come up with a location, and we finally decided to go to Fort Lauderdale for the weekend of our wedding. Part of our motivation was that we were able to get a cheap rental car Fort Lauderdale and since we were spending so much on the wedding, any savings on a car rental were going to be welcome.
We booked some Orlando rental cars for the wedding so that we would have a ride to the airport after the wedding. We did have a problem with are rental car Orlando on the way there, and ended up taking a cab instead.
In the end though, our honeymoon was perfect, and I was able to go to the Museum of Art Fort Lauderdale, a dream that I had since I was a child. I had a great trip and a great husband – what more does a girl need?

Autumn Truck Accessories for the Outdoor Lover 18
Aug

Ah, Autumn. The weather turns cooler, the leaves change from green to beautiful shades of oranges, yellows and reds, and the air just seems easier to breathe. This is a great time of the year to drive the back roads with your windows down and take in nature at its best.

Here are some must-have truck accessories to make you journey-ready!
  • Dog Boxes—You want to take your dog everywhere with you, right? Well, if there isn’t enough room inside cab, you need a dog box to add to the truck bed. A dog box will make it safe and easy for your four-legged friend to comfortably travel anywhere you decide to drive. After all, outdoor activities just aren’t the same without your best buddy by your side.
  • Bed Liners—During the Fall, you will be in and out of your truck all the time. This means you will probably be throwing all sorts of things into your truck bed. Make sure your bed is protected from dents and scratches with a quality bed liner.
  • Bike Racks—Every bike owner needs a bike rack for safe transport. This leaves your bed open to store other important things, like beer and camping gear.
Autumn is the time to get out and travel, so make your truck accessories ready for all of the adventures you have in mind.

Buying the right car 14
Aug

It may seem obvious, but when you’re standing there in the dealership and that sports car with the fire-engine exterior and buttery leather seats is calling your name, one of the most important factors may go right out the window: consider what you really NEED!

Also along those lines, consider the practicality of features over the aesthetics. For example, if you live in Phoenix, Arizona, even though that four-door sedan is practical in every other way, if you buy the midnight black one because you think it looks the best, you just made a big mistake, one that you - and your family - is going to be feeling every time you get in that car in July.

Let your fingers do the walking. It’s not always necessary to walk around dealership after dealership in this day and age to find that perfect car. Research and browse for your cars online. If you look at local dealerships or sellers, you can still get that test drive, without all the pressure (or temptation) that you would find by wandering aimlessly around a lot.

Speaking of test drive: DO IT. Most of us wouldn’t choose a life partner without a first date, so don’t even think about putting said partner and your offspring in a car that you haven’t tested firsthand to be safe, secure, and comfortable.

Keep these tips in mind and you’ll be well on your way to the ride of your life.

Automotive Careers: A Persistent Gender Bias? 9
Aug
When we bring our cars, trucks or SUV’s into to a repair shop, more often than not, we expect a man to be the one lifting the hood. This perception continues despite the fact that many women have chosen the male dominated auto service industry as a viable career path.
In fact, the number of female mechanics is growing in spite of what is considered to be an obvious bias against women within the industry. There is even an indication that far more women would be in automotive services if it weren’t for this bias.
Attitudes are slowly but surely changing in this realm, as well it should. If one were in dire need of having their car fixed, they should take it to any individual with the knowledge to fix it – no matter their gender.
Besides, I am sure that women, who have so much more to prove, would strive to do a top-notch job.
That is not to say that men are not equally driven mechanics, I just feel that when people are trying to get noticed for what they do, they try a wee bit harder.
This last surviving dinosaur of gender wars, namely, the automotive industry, needs a bit of an overhaul anyway. When a female mechanic gets the chance to shine within it, it will compel those already in the driver’s seat to be less complacent and far more customer service oriented!
This in turn, will be beneficial to us all.
